ORS News Important Reminder for Employees Exiting Campus at Lincoln Drive and Old Georgetown Road
Page Content

For employees exiting campus at the Lincoln Drive and Old Georgetown Road intersection, as a reminder, the only options are a left or right turn on to Old Georgetown Road. It is illegal to proceed straight through the traffic light on to Lincoln Street.

The NIH Police have received complaints from neighbors involved in some "near misses" with vehicles exiting Lincoln Drive and proceeding straight across the roadway on to Lincoln Street. Violating directional signage is a traffic offense enforceable by Montgomery County Police, not to mention an increased likelihood of causing an accident.

Although signage above the roadway clearly indicates the left lane is for left turns only, to further remind motorists, a ‘left turn only’ arrow, will be added to the left lane on Lincoln Drive. The right lane is already marked for right turns only.

Thank you for helping the NIH and the surrounding area become a safer place by obeying the traffic laws on and outside the NIH campus.
