Free Fitness Classes in March and Free Week of Functional Fitness Training Program.
For a full list of March classes, please visit:
March is National Nutrition Month! Take advantage of free fitness classes offered through the "Fitness for You" program. This month's program features Circuit Training in both our Rockledge and Building 31 Fitness Facilities. This class allows you to go through a full body workout on our fitness equipment as you complete the "circuit."
***Free Week of NIH R&W Functional Fitness Training Program at the Loft (Building T-39)*** Try the new NIH R&W Functional Fitness Training Program for one week free! This offer is open to all – even those who are not fitness center members. Training with functional movements means you won't use the typical machines you see at most gyms. Instead, you will use a combination of your body weight, dumbbells, kettlebells and barbells to build strength and endurance to become stronger and more toned over time.
The gym hours for the NIH R&W Functional Fitness Training Program will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. During those hours, the Loft will be staffed with an experienced fitness coach, Coach Steve, who will be available to provide a new member orientation, answer questions, and ensure your safety. The Functional Fitness Training Program will also offer a posted "Workout of the Day" or you are welcome to do your own routine.
To register for this program and start a free one week trial, or become a fitness center member, contact Ms. Sherrell Freeman, Operations Director, R&W Fitness Program, at or 301-496-5440.
The "Fitness for You" program is sponsored by the Office of Research Services (ORS), Division of Amenities and Transportation Services (DATS), and the Recreation and Welfare Association (R&W) Fitness Program. All classes are free and open to all NIH staff. However, please obtain your supervisor's approval if interested in attending classes that occur during your work hours.
Those needing reasonable accommodations to participate in these activities can contact Ms. Sherrell Freeman, Operations Director, R&W Fitness Program, at, 301-496-5440 and/or the Federal Relay (1-800-877-8339). Requests should be made at least five days in advance.
