The NIH Office of Research Services (ORS) is pleased to announce three *NEW* resources & referral (R&R) services to help you manage the complexities of legal issues, financial matters and instances of identity theft.

These new services are FREE, available nationwide, and accessible to NIH Federal Employees, Trainees and Contractors. Services offered are:

  • Legal R&R: This service provides a 30-minute consultation on the telephone or in person with a lawyer. Topics may include civil/consumer issues, elder law, personal/family, real estate, IRS matters, and estate planning. Discounted rates are available should you need additional time to address your need.
  • Financial R&R: This service provides a 30-minute consultation on the telephone or in person with a Financial Planner. Topics may include budgeting, credit, debt, retirement/401(k), college planning, social security/Medicare, and tax/IRS. Discounted rates are available should you need additional time to address your need.
  • Identity (ID) Theft R&R: This service provides a 60-minute consultation with a Fraud Resolution Specialist. This service can assist with restoring identity and good credit, as well as provide strategies to prevent ID theft from happening. An "ID Theft Emergency Response Kit" is available for those who have experienced ID theft, as well as consultation on the steps to dispute fraudulent debts.

To access the R&R services, call 1-800-777-1720 between the hours of 8:00 am until 5:00 pm ET, Monday through Friday. The NIH has contracted with Lifework Strategies, Inc., to provide these services.
