MLP-6 Parking Garage to Undergo Renovations

Beginning on May 4, 2020 and continuing through April 2021, the 887-space MLP-6 Parking Garage on Lincoln Drive will undergo major renovations to address deterioration of concrete flooring and other structural issues. These urgent repairs will commence in a phased approach to minimize the impact to employees, starting with the top level (4th floor) and working down. The garage itself will not close. No more than 222 spaces will be unavailable at any one time. This project has been scheduled after similar repairs were completed in MLP-9 so that spaces in both parking garages would not be simultaneously taken out of service.

Inside of MLP-6, construction areas will be clearly marked. Flagpersons and signage will assist vehicles navigating around work zones during the beginning of each phase. Alternate handicap and reserved parking spaces will be provided within MLP-6 once existing spaces come under repair. When needed, stack parking will resume in areas not affected by construction activity.

During MLP-6 repairs, the NIH realizes there will be an overall shift in parking availability, particularly on the western side of campus. Employees are encouraged to use MLP-8, MLP-9 and Lots 41 and 42 as alternate parking locations.

The Office of Research Facilities and the Office of Research Services appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these repairs to the MLP-6 parking garage.
