Steam Line Replacement Project Scheduled Near Convent Drive and Lincoln Drive Intersection
Beginning on or about August 20, the Office of Research Facilities will begin replacement of 450 ft. of steam lines on the NIH campus. The existing steam lines, installed in the early 1960s, have developed leaks and are at the end of their useful life. The work will take place near Building 29B and the MLP-8 parking garage close to the intersection of Convent Drive and Lincoln Drive. This is a long-term project, with a completion date at the end of 2021.
During construction, there will be intermittent lane and sidewalk closures. Signs will be posted for pedestrian detours and flagpersons will be available when lane closures are needed. Access to the MLP-8 parking garage will not be affected and Lincoln Drive and Convent Drive will remain open during construction except for these intermittent lane closures.
The Office of Research Facilities appreciates your patience and understanding as we complete this critical utility system upgrade for the southwest part of the NIH main campus.
