The NIH will host the 27th Annual Take Your Child to Work Day (TYCTWD) virtually on Thursday, April 22, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. You are invited to register your school-age child/ren (grades 1 – 12) for a virtual day of discovery, exploring the important work you do and other occupations that support the public health services NIH delivers every day.

Starting tomorrow at 9:00 am, you will be able to securely access the TYCTWD registration site to enter/edit/remove information about your child/ren who will be participating. You will also be able to browse over 100 virtual activities that will be offered, volunteer opportunities for students in grades 9-12, as well as, special activities to celebrate Earth Day. This is your 'sneak peek' opportunity to preview the virtual activities in advance with your child/ren before actually registering for an event next week.

The registration site is only accessible by you using your NIH PIV card login credentials (either at work or through VPN). For additional information on how to pre-register or register your child/ren visit:

This year's pre-registration process will once again include a disclaimer related to photos taken during the event and will also include reasonable accommodation information. Parent/guardians must check the box to indicate that they have read and understood these statements. If a parent/guardian does not check this box, they will be unable to move onto "Step 2" to register the child for limited activities when registration opens on March 23.

** This year's registration will be conducted in two phases. **

  • March 23 at 12 PM (noon): Registration Phase 1 (Register child/ren for up to 2 limited space activities each).
  • March 30 at 12 PM (noon): Registration Phase 2 (Register child/ren for up to 2 additional limited space activities for a maximum of 4 limited space activities).

Individuals needing a sign language interpreter to participate in this event may enter the request directly at or contact Ms. Linda Kiefer at 301-827-3252, no later than Wednesday, April 7. Find additional information about the NIH Interpreting Services program at Individuals needing other reasonable accommodations should contact their ICs for support.
