As you may have heard when the 2016 government spending bill was signed, the mass transit subsidy was increased. The Office of Research Services, Division of Amenities and Transportation Services, is pleased to report that the maximum subsidy has permanently increased from $130 to $255 per month. Effective February 1, the NIH will provide eligible employees, fellows and volunteers up to the $255 maximum per month, based on actual commuting costs between their home and worksite. Current members in the NIH subsidy program (known as Transhare) have had their transit subsidies for February increased to their qualifying amounts. Interested in taking advantage of the subsidy increase? Apply to become a Transhare member today. Visit the webpages listed below for information about the program. Vanpoolers are also eligible to receive a transit subsidy benefit. Please note: if you currently drive or receive a bicycle subsidy, you will need to surrender your parking permit or cancel your bicycle subsidy to enroll in the Transhare program.
