As part of the ongoing construction of the Industrial Water Storage System (IWSS) on the southwest corner of the main campus, near Building 41 and Lots 41A and B, additional manhole and telecommunication duct bank work will require the closure of sections of Medlars Drive and Service Road West from mid-September to early November.
The work will be completed in three phases:
Phase 1 - September 16 – October 7: Medlars Drive closed north of Building 41.
Phase 2  - October 7 – October 21:  Service Road West closed west of Building 41; access to Lot 41A from south only.
Phase 3 -  October 21 – November 4: Service Road West closed west of Building 41; access to Lot 41A from north only.
(Dates may change slightly due to weather).
For a map detailing the area impacted by construction, including access to Lots 41A and 41B in each phase and detour routes, please visit:
Lots 41A and 41B will be accessible at all phases of construction. Barricades, flag persons and other signage will be provided to alert staff to the road closures and to detour traffic, especially for access to Lots 41A and 41B.
The Office of Research Facilities and the Office of Research Services appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this important and extensive upgrade to the NIH water supply. This water tank will supply emergency water to campus when normal service is disrupted. This water is used by our Central Utility Plant to generate chilled water for critical research, patient care and facilities.
