As part of the final stages of improvements to the intersection at Old Georgetown Road and W. Cedar Lane, portions of the sidewalk on the east side of Old Georgetown Road, nearest the NIH property, will be closed, requiring pedestrians to detour around construction areas. The area of impact starts near the Center Drive/Old Georgetown Road intersection and extends to the W. Cedar lane intersection. For employees walking southbound on Old Georgetown Road, if you plan to enter campus, please use the pedestrian portal at the northwest corner of campus nearest the fire station. For employees walking northbound, a temporary sidewalk and signage will direct employees to enter campus using the gate arm at Center Drive. If pedestrians want to continue walking north or south on Old Georgetown without entering the NIH campus, the State Highway Administration suggests pedestrians cross the street and use the sidewalk on the west side of Old Georgetown Road. The entire project is anticipated to be complete by the end of September. For a map of the NIH campus, including pedestrian entrances, please visit: https://www.ors.od.nih.gov/maps/Pages/Employee-Access-Map.aspx.
