Temporary Closure of Wilson Drive on Thursday, June 7 for NIH Take a Hike Day

On Thursday, June 7, Wilson Drive will temporarily close from 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM for the 11th Annual NIH "Take a Hike Day" event. For the safety of the participants, the NIH Police will assist with traffic control during the event. Please pay careful attention to pedestrians around this time.

There is still time to register and participate in Take a Hike Day! Visit:

Join nearly a thousand of your co-workers in front of Building 1 to participate in one of the NIH's largest wellness events. Activities start at 11:30 AM and the run/walk will begin promptly at 12:15 PM. Runners and walkers will proceed down Wilson Drive to the NIH perimeter pedestrian pathway, turn right on Rockville Pike, and circle the campus. Please keep your NIH ID with you at all times to get back on the campus at the conclusion of the run/walk.

Please pay careful attention to any route signage and volunteers as you proceed around the perimeter of the campus and on Wilson Drive. Two lanes on Wilson Drive will be closed to walkers/runners near the Rockville Pike intersection due to construction. Follow directional signage and police instructions when navigating this active construction site. Again, please keep your NIH ID with you to re-enter the campus.
