Work and Family Month at NIH banner
"As the nation’s biomedical research agency, we are committed to improving health for all Americans. Science has shown that our family relationships have an important effect on our physical well-being. I am proud of the substantial work-life resources available to the NIH workforce, and I encourage each of you to participate in Work and Family Month so you can take advantage of the resources that are most helpful to you."
- Dr. Francis Collins, NIH Director (October 2019)
Join us in October for Work and Family Month at NIH

Work and Family Month

This year, Work and Family Month will be VIRTUAL, informative and overflowing with valuable resources to assist you with your current and future work and family responsibilities.  Work and Family Month is a partnership of the NIH Office of Research Services and Office of Human Resources.

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to learn how
NIH cares for and supports its workforce!

There is something for EVERYONE:

  • federal employees, fellows/trainees, and contractors
  • newly hired, mid-career employees, and those looking towards retirement
  • single people, married couples, child dependents, and adult/elder dependents

Working parents/caregivers will also find specific information/resources related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Work and Family Month 2020 Calendar of Events provides information in many formats:  websites, PDFs, archived webinars, vignettes and LIVE presentations.

Each week has a theme that targets a specific phase during your work and family life cycle.  Each theme is located in the far left box under Theme & Resources.

Week 1:  New Employees, and Single/Married

Week 2:  Mid-Career Employees, and Those With Children of All Ages

Week 3:  Pre-Retirement Employees, and Those With Adult Dependent and Elder Care Needs

Week 4: Work-Life@NIH

Many of the services and programs provided can be used at any stage of your work and family life cycle.  Be sure to check the calendar frequently and bookmark it as information will be added and updated throughout the month.  Please share the Work and Family Month 2020 Calendar of Events with co-workers and colleagues.
