NED Update Instructions

The steps below describe how you can update your personal information and work contact information in NED as well as how to manage the receipt of optional AlertNIH notifications on personal communication devices. If you encounter any questions, please contact the Office of Research Services, Division of Emergency Management at (301) 496-1985.

 

For assistance with updating your NED information to receive AlertNIH notifications, please consult the following document:


Updating Personal Information

(e.g., home phone, personal mobile device, personal email address)

Note: Personal contact information added to your NED profile is visible only to administrative staff within your IC, and is not displayed through a NED search.

  1. To update your personal information within NED, please click hereExternal Website
  2. Click on "Update My Record" on the left-hand navigation bar.
  3. Click on the "Edit" button in the "Personal Information" section.
  4. While in the "Personal Information" section, navigate to the bottom to locate the "Personal Contact Information" section. This is where you enter your personal email address, home phone number, etc.
  5. At the bottom of the screen, please click the check box to agree to the use of your personal information for the appropriate NIH business purposes. Please note, you may need to click the box more than once to continue. 
    1. Note: If any required personal information is missing from your NED record (i.e., if any of the fields indicated with an asterisk (*) are blank), you will be prompted to enter that information before continuing
  6. When finished, click on the "Continue" button to return to the overall summary page.
  7. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the "Submit" button.

Updating Work Contact Information

(e.g., work phone, work mobile phone, work Email address)

  1. To update your work contact information within NED, please click hereExternal Website
  2. Click on "Update My Record" on the left-hand navigation bar.
  3. Click on the "Edit" button in the "Work Information" section and update any applicable information.
  4. When finished, click on the "Continue" button to return to the overall summary page.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the "Submit" button.

Managing AlertNIH Notifications in NED

Note: Personal contact information added to your NED profile is visible only to administrative staff within your IC, and is not displayed through a NED search.

  1. To manage your AlertNIH notifications within NED, please click hereExternal Website
  2. Click on "Update My Record" on the left-hand navigation bar.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click the "Edit" button in the "AlertNIH Notifications" section.
  4. Click on the "Edit" button on the "AlertNIH Notifications" section.
  5. Once the "Manage AlertNIH Notifications" page appears, use the >> and << buttons to opt-in or opt-out for receiving AlertNIH notifications to your personal devices.
  6. When finished, click on the "Continue" button to return to the overall summary page.
  7. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the "Submit" button.

Note: Within your NED profile, any field marked with a check mark (NED Field Check Mark) requires approval by your Administrative Officer (AO) before appearing in NED. If you desire to make a change and it appears as if it did not save, it may be it is awaiting approval from your AO. As soon as your AO approves the changes, they will display.
