AlertNIH is the official emergency communications service for the NIH community, connecting employees instantly anytime, anywhere, across many devices – cell phone, home phone, work phone, smart phone or email. Employees’ government communications devices (e.g., work phone, work email, work cell phone) will automatically receive messages from AlertNIH. However, employees have the ability to connect their personal devices too. In order to sign up one’s personal device, they must log in to the NIH Enterprise Directory (NED) and scroll to the bottom of their profile where there will be a section called “AlertNIH”. Here they will click on the Edit button and select the personal devices (e.g., home phone, cell phone, home email) that they elect to receive AlertNIH updates. NIH employees are strongly encouraged to update their NED profiles, thus ensuring they have multiple means by which to receive important information from AlertNIH.
