Director's Biography


Michael A. Eckhaus, V.M.D. was named Acting Director, Division of Veterinary Resources in March 2108.

He also currently serves as the Chief, Pathology Service, DVR and the Branch Chief, Diagnostic and Research Services Branch, DVR.

Dr. Eckhaus obtained his VMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1978 and completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at UC Davis. Following four years of small animal practice Dr. Eckhaus completed a three-year post-doctoral fellowship in comparative pathology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 1986.

Dr. Eckhaus has been active in the field of laboratory animal pathology for the past 34 years and has coauthored of over a hundred publications in peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Eckhaus has served as the Chair, ORS Animal Care and Use Committee for ten years.
