ORS Divisions & Branches

​The Office of Research Services is comprised of 22 Divisions, Offices and Branches​​ which include public safety and security operations, scientific and regulatory support programs, and a wide variety of other programs and employee services that maintain a steadfast committment to collaboration, service excellence, and high performance. ​​​

Together, we meet our purpose by providing hundreds of products and services to a myriad of partners to meet a wide spectrum of agency needs. 

DATS
Amenities and Transportation Services

DATS provides a variety of food, transportation, and worksite enrichment services to the NIH community. 

DEM
Emergency Management

​​DEM coordinates all resources essential to emergency planning and preparedness functions at the NIH.​​

EMB
Events Management

​Events Management provides comprehensive conference and meeting support services for NIH.




DFRS
Fire and Rescue Services

DFRS provides fire, emergency medical, hazardous materials, and specialized rescue services to the NIH​.​

DFM
Fire Marshal

​​DFM oversees​ the operational, fire, and life safety aspects of existing, renovated, and newly-constructed NIH-owned facilities​.​​

DIS
International Services

​​​DIS manages immigration-related services for visiting foreign scientists and the NIH research community​.​​




NIH Library
Library Services

Library Services operates as a biomedical research library whose collection and services support the programs of the NIH and selected U.S. Department of Health and Human Services agencies. ​​​

DMMS
Mail Management Services

DMMS develops policy​ and provides ingoing and outgoing mail services at the NIH. ​

MAB
Medical Arts

Medical Arts is NIH’s in-house creative studio ​delivering cross-platform visual communication solutions and creative consultation to the NIH and DHHS communities. 




DOHS
Occupational Health and Safety Services

DOHS serves as the operational component in developing and implementing NIH-wide safety and health programs.​​

DPSAC
Personnel Security and Access Control

DPSAC oversees all aspects of the verification and credentialing process for NIH federal employees, contractors, and affiliates​.​​​​​

DPSM
Physical Security Management

DPSM verifies that all NIH facilities are compliant with federally mandated physical security requirements to mitigate both current and emerging threats.​​​​




DP
Police

NIH Police protect the NIH community and ensure that the NIH mission is not impeded by personal attacks, loss of assets, criminal activity, or acts of terrorism. ​​​

DRS
Radiation Safety

DRS provides radiation safety guidance, regulatory compliance, and risk management for biomedical and clinical research efforts in advancement of the NIH mission.​​

DVR
Veterinary Resources

​DVR oversees animal care, customer service, and specialized research services to support intramural research efforts at the NIH. ​​​​​
