Police Officer of the Year

Corporal Jose Ayala-Guevara

Corporal Jose Ayala began his Federal police career as an officer stationed at the US Army Research Lab in Adelphi, Md. from 2004-2013. In September 2013 Cpl. Ayala transferred to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Division of Police (DP). Soon after completing his initial training, Cpl. Ayala was selected to join the Conflict Management/Special Response Team (SRTSpring 2014. Cpl. Ayala has completed training in Active Shooter Response, Patrol Rifle Training, and Field Training Officer Certification where he assists in the support of new Police Officers through completion of the Field Training Program. As a member of the Special Response Team, Cpl. Ayala assists with multiple dignitary protection details (up to and including Presidential visits) held on the NIH enclave.

 

Cpl. Ayala's dedication and thoroughness in his service as an NIH Police Corporal has resulted in multiple performance awards and a regular annual performance rating as an outstanding officer. Cpl. Ayala represents the best of the best amongst the officers within the Division of Police and has rightly earned the title of the Division of Police Officer of the Year for 2017.
