Red Seal Door Program

Red Seal Door Program:  This program is a value added service offered to the NIH community.  The Office of Community Policing manages the Division of Police Red Seal Door Program, Police officer placing a red seal on a doorreceiving and processing requests for the application or removal of Red Seals.  Red Seals are placed on a comparatively small number of NIH offices and laboratories, etc., where the nature of the facility’s activities and/or stored assets is sufficiently sensitive that heightened security measures must be imposed.  At these locations, access restrictions are elevated and breaches of security, when and if they occur, are reported directly to senior management staff.

The DP places a high priority upon the protection of these offices and laboratories, etc., and will work closely with office/lab managers of Red Seal facilities to ensure that timely, unfettered access is provided to those they (applicable office/lab managers) authorize for such access. More information regarding the process for requesting Red Seal Door service may be found by contacting The Office of Community Policing which is usually staffed Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and may be reached by calling 301-496-3020.

The Form for requesting a Red Seal Door is available below.
