Work and Family Month at NIH banner Join us in October for Work and Family Month at NIH
"As the nation’s biomedical research agency, we are committed to improving health for all Americans. Science has shown that our family relationships have an important effect on our physical well-being. I am proud of the substantial work-life resources available to the NIH workforce, and I encourage each of you to participate in Work and Family Month so you can take advantage of the resources that are most helpful to you."
- Dr. Francis Collins, Former NIH Director

Work and Family Month

Between work, family, and personal life, we juggle multiple responsibilities every day. Finding a healthy balance among them is essential to our own personal well-being. Well-Being is being defined by Gallup, into five essential categories: Social, Community, Career, Physical and Financial. Mental well-being is integrated within all five areas. It is important to recognize how each area impacts you and your family's mental well-being.

The Office of Resource Services (ORS), Office of Human Resources and the NIH-Wide Mental Health and Well-being Action Team have made available resources appropriate for “supporting you and your family's mental well-being."

There is something for EVERYONE, including contractors.

Resources are available in many formats: archived webinars, free fitness classes, websites, PDFs, and archived webinars and vignettes for viewing when you have time.

Please share this webpage with colleagues, co-workers, and contractors. The website can be accessed by any computer or iPhone/android.

Events and resources are divided in to themes that target a specific category of well-being: Mental/Physical, Financial, Social/Family, Career, Community and Self-Care. Each weekly theme is located in the far left box under Theme.

Week 1 Theme:  Mental/Physical Well-Being

Week 2 Theme:  Financial

Week 3 Theme:  Social/Caring for Others

Week 4 Theme:  Career & Community

Week 5 Theme:  Self-Care

If there is a resource you think should be included or have any questions, please contact Tonya Lee, NIH Work-Life Coordinator at worklife@nih.gov.
